I've been a fan of Umberto Eco for a while now and have known that he's a professor of semiotics but have had little knowledge of what semiotics is beyond the study of symbols and symbolism. Well, this site seems to be a good intro with all the syntagmatic analysis a novice could possibly want.

And for anyone interested in physics, Professor Clint Sprott has posted some video presentations on the subject.
