Ready For Kama Sutra?
The Nyxem/Blackmal/MyWife/Kama Sutra worm is due to hit computers shortly. So don't go opening any suspicious e-mails promising pr0n videos or pictures. If you do get infected, Symantec has a removal tool.
And for crying out loud, next time buy a mac. Or at least install Linux instead of Windows.
Windows is so riddled with holes (so that they can spy on you!) that it is seriously dangerous.
Someday you should sit down and add up how much time and money you've spent on worrying about, preventing, and cleaning up after Windows worms and viruses. The time and money saved will definitely justify the cost of a mac an definitely pay for 2 or 3 linus boxes.
Pray tell, how do they spy on users? And who is "they"?
People buy an OS for various reasons. Most home users would be lost with Linux. Some people have Winders because it allows them to take work home or because, like me, that's the OS they have to fix on a quotidian basis and learn in order to advance in the IT world. Can't go installing an MS server OS on a Mac to study for an MCSE. Most games aren't ported to Mac and Linux so that's a consideration as well. Win PCs are generally a lot cheaper than Macs. I personally enjoy being able to build my own PC from scratch instead of a pre-hoolied model from Apple. Nothing against Macs, but I can build a custom rig for much cheaper than I can buy an equivalent model from Apple.
MS has a lot to answer for security-wise, to be sure, but users are not powerless either. Common sense goes a long way towards keeping your PC safe.
