I went to check out the pedestrian path that goes underneath the Wisconsin & Southern railroad embankment on the west side where it runs parallel with Old Middleton Road. It looks fairly old. There is a cornerstone about halfway down that I couldn't get a decent photo of which says 5/41 but that could be when the tunnel simply had some work done on it instead of when it was actually built.
Was the city/railroad trying to be accommodating? Or were there people crossing the tracks frequently?
Must be spooky at night.
