New Film by Ollie Stone

I found this via Althouse:

Oliver Stone's next flick is to concern 9/11. It's to be the first major U.S. film about the tragic events. I, for one, am looking forward to seeing how it is. Ann and her commenters all jumped on the reactionary bandwagon and remarked upon the news with venom normally reserved for people such as Osama bin Laden and Adolph Hitler. One gentleman expressed his loathing by chastizing Stone for his willful distortion of history. Fair enough, but that's what Hollywood does. Duh! All fictional films of historical stories distort history in a most willful manner. This is how screenwriters & directors impose a narrative. Presumably, only distortions with which the commenter agrees are allowed. If you don't like Stone's politics, so be it, but at least one person has given approval:

Oscar-winning star Cage will take the lead role of New York Port Authority policeman Sergeant John McLoughlin, who was trapped along with one of his fellow officers in the mangled wreckage of one of the twin towers that crumbled after being hit by hijacked passenger jets.

"I feel someone had to tell the story of the people who were in the Trade Center before and after it collapsed," said McLoughlin of the plans to make his story into a major movie.

"The people involved in putting this movie together are truly making an extraordinary attempt to tell those stories and the stories of those who are no longer with us," he said.

I wonder if Ann's blog were around in 1989, whether she'd be blasting The Last Temptation of Christ without having seen it along with all those open-minded Catholics. She even tries to enjoin her readers into boycotting current and future Paramount releases in theaters. Well, Paramount doesn't need much help to recoup their investments in blockbusters and it's not about the box office anyway. So all of Ann's minions and anyone keeping her counsel would do better to stop renting/buying Paramount DVDs and stop subscribing to Showtime immediately.
