Yesterday marked the opening of baseball season here in Madison as the Mallards started their season with a 5-1 loss against Thunder Bay. In one of the more odd promotional gambits, tonight is Newcastle Hockey Night. The Mallards will wear hockey uniforms and the first 1,000 fans get commemorative hockey pucks.
Perhaps they are taking a page from the Bill Veeck playbook.
