It makes me happy that you buck the Midwestern tradition of calling them paczkis. In Detroit, we get paczki on Fat Tuesday instead of Fat Thursday.

I believe Pączki is plural in Polish. Not sure what the singular is. I'm also not sure how many Poles go with Fat Tuesday vs. Fat Thursday but I get the impression that Thursday is the big day over there whereas Tuesday is the big day here.

Yeah, the plural thing is what I'm talking about. I have no idea how the singular is spelled, but I think it's pronounced like poon-schek.

It's funny how they are shocked at the notion of baked pączki and one woman sounds like she is just amazed at the technological progress embodied in a pączek that is filled after frying.
