The folks at Ritz have gotten in on the salt & vinegar craze (ahem) with a salty, tangy version of their Crisp & Thins.
Just as Kölsch and Alt beers are ale-lager hybrids (to us Americans, anyway), Crisp & Thins are snack hybrids. Made with both wheat and potato flours, they're part cracker, part potato chip.
They are oddly shaped, as if some flour ball went through a machine press. True to their name, these chimeric chips are thin and crispy. Both the salt and vinegar tang were on the moderate side with the sweet grainy flavor found in Ritz crackers taking pride of place. They went well with hummus.
