This is, if I recall correctly, the first story in an annual to have a prelude. The Doctor is clad in a "close-fitting silver uniform" which was colored pink in the illustration and under the control of another being.
Thankfully Victoria and Jamie show up to release him from the influence of the slave-beams from the Controller's slave ray gun.
The Doctor has a "mental tussle" with a brain in a vat that recalls a similar tussle he has later in life in "Brain of Morbius".
For a short, trite story intended for young kids, it uses "eldritch" and "paramecia". Maybe kids were just better educated in the late 60s.
