New tunes, December 2023

Steve Hackett has released a song from his forthcoming album, The Circus and the Nightwhale. It's called "People of the Smoke". He's coming to Madison in March and hope that a new song or 2 is in the setlist.

The wonderful Valerie June has released a cover of Duran Duran's "Ordinary World". The original is great and June does a fantastic job here.

A song from Bruce Dickinson's forthcoming album, The Mandrake Project, is out - "Afterglow of Ragnarok".

Geddy Lee has released a couple of outtakes from the sessions for his solo album, My Favourite Headache. They are "Gone" (sounds sad after the death of Neil Peart) and "I Am…You Are".

Although now new, this is new to me. I recently heard about Daniel Bachman, a guitarist from Virginia. This song dates back to 2010 (I think) when he went under the moniker Sacred Harp. Simply beautiful and I love the drony bits that give it an Appalachian raga feel.

Lastly, I finally went out and bought an album, Come Clean Right Now, by Lung, whom I saw open for Mac Sabbath last year. When the package arrived, I thought it was rather thicker than 1 CD. It turned out I got 3! The records label, SofaBurn, sent me a sampler disc and Sons of Columbus by a band I'd never heard of, Silo the Huskie. When I look them up on the internet, I see sites saying they're a lot like a bunch of other bands I've never heard of. Adventure awaits!
