Nirvana '89 show in Madison released

Nirvana's first gig here in Madison on 7 July 1989 at O'Cayz Corral has been dusted off and shared on Youtube.

I once had a conversation with a sound guy about town who told me that he was going to record the Nirvana show he was doing but he had forgotten to hit record because he was chemically enhanced, shall we say. I am not sure if it was this performance or the one the following year at Club Underground.

While it doesn't have A+ hifi sound, it is quite good.

Audio of Nirvana live in Madison surfaces

Someone who goes by "Greg D" has posted some audio from Nirvana's gig here in Madison at O'Cayz Corral on 7 July 1989. Just one song prefaced by what sounds like an early instrumental take of "Even In His Youth". I was told by the sound guy who did one of their 2 shows here - the other being 6 April 1990 at Club Underground -  but I cannot remember which, that he had intended to record it but forgot to push the record button after, um, partaking. Oops.

Rick Beato interviews Butch Vig

A local boy done good. Vig recalls the early days of Smart Studios and starting his career in Madison. I didn't know Billy Corgan brought The Smashing Pumpkins there after he heard Killdozer. I've heard that Twelve Point Buck was what motivated Kurt Cobain to seek out Vig but not Corgan.
