One of my all-time favorite albums - by Genesis or otherwise - A Trick of the Tail, turns 48 today. And one of my favorite songs of all-time - by Genesis or otherwise - "Squonk" is on it. A John Bonham-like drum beat meets a vaguely Rolling Stones-bluesy feel and they team up with some Pennsylvania folktale lyrics. I loved this song the first time I heard it 41 years ago and A Trick of the Tail would become the first Genesis album I ever bought. The song has taken on great sentimental value for me as it reminds me of my dearly departed brother for whom this was also a favorite.
