This morning we were greeted with a beautiful snow storm. It was around freezing out and big flakes coated the ground. I fooled myself into thinking that I'd run errands but I did manage to get out to Acewood Conservation Park for some time out amongst the trees and on the ice.
I scared a mourning dove and it perched on a branch not too far away. Since it was happy to sit still for me, I snapped many photos but of course only 1 was anywhere near in focus and at all decent.
Despite the snow coming down at quite a clip, there were lots of birds out and about as I could hear their sounds and calls all around me as I walked through the woods.
The Arch:
Despite some occasional noise from one or another of the industrial sites west of the park, it was calm and peaceful overall.
I wandered behind the cattails on the south side of the pond.
I saw what appeared to be ropes danging from a tree but found that they were narrow trunks sprouting from the base of the tree. They seemed to dangle in mid-air but were hanging from branches above.
A lovely morning to wander through some woods. Since the snow never let up, I decided to go run my errands tomorrow and instead head home where I would lie on the couch after shoveling the heavy, wet blanket of snow that covered the sidewalk. One disadvantage of being on a corner lot.
