It appears that yesterday was the final day for the AMC Madison 6 theatre. Today its webpage looks thusly:
I was under the impression that it would be open through December but apparently not. Madison now has only 2 commercial cinemas left. AMC Madison 6 programmed some fine arty/foreign movies during the winter months and, it being December, I'll feel its loss especially acutely rather soon. None of the remaining area commercial theatres are served by public transit particularly well and we have no second run theatres any longer. The Wisconsin Film Festival screened movies exclusively at AMC Madison 6 on weekdays (well, except for Friday) during the fest so I wonder what will happen now.
Back to the days of trekking to Chicago for art/foreign films on the big screen?
