I was so proud to hear today that my youngest stepson was talking up Roadside Picnic by the Strugatsky brothers.
I heard of it via Andrei Tarkovsky's film adaptation, Stalker, while the kid did so via the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. video games. Glad to hear he is looking into some fine, dour Russian literature, even if it's because of a first-person shooter.
