The TARDIS brings the Doctor, Victoria, and Jamie to a temple/tomb thingy adorned with ancient Egyptian symbols. This gave me a vague LOST vibe. Countless people are slumbering in these glass boxes. The Doctor figures it'd be a good idea to wake them up.
It turns out the sleepers are the remnants of humanity who had decided to enter suspended animation as punishment for waging war in direct violation of the strictures laid down by their Life God.
The Doctor is brought to tears again - this time by Mankind's bellicose nature which he has helped unleash by awakening these people. The story ends on an unhappy note and is a rare story in the Doctor Who canon - a real bummer.
