On the Gramophone
This week's song is a humorous ditty from Dick Thompson. Thompson, as everyone should know, was a founding member of the English band, Fairport Convention. While they started out as "the new Jefferson Airplane," their music took on more elements of English folk and they became the seminal English folk rock band. Thompson left to pursue a solo career in 1970. Most people know him for "1952 Vincent Black Lightning" from 1991's Rumor and Sigh and the serious demeanor of his songs. In concert, though, he's light-hearted and funny and this song is a great example.
"Dear Janet Jackson"
